To borrow a headline from the local newspaper, drip. I hate to drone on about the never ending rain, but it does seem to be never ending. It's been raining again for most of the last week. There have been a few breaks but I only remember the sun coming out for about 45 minutes this last week...and I was already in my pajamas by then.
Speaking of pajamas, Larry and I have been in bed before dark a few times lately....but it's starting to be light until 9:30. We're not sure if it's the dreariness or exhaustion, but one of us is nodding off around 8.
Our day starts at 6 am (it's light at 4:30). We get dressed and take a walk to get the newspaper. This entails walking through a (most often wet) field and then up a qtr mile incline of our gravel driveway/road. Sometimes the paper is in it's little box waiting for us but other times not. We then walk down to the end of the road and back. Usually the paper person has delivered it by the time we head back. The loop is 1.25 miles. Then back to fix the breakfast of the day. I turn on the morning news...to check the weather. At 7:30 we meet with the other missionary couple for an hour of scripture study. We are studying The Doctrines and Covenants.
Hopefully a few minutes of discussing our work plans for the day. Then we go to work, since Larry and I work mostly outside, the weather does impact us. It does not stop us. It's just a matter of what you are going to wear, and knowing we have wet feet that day. Around noon we break for lunch. Then it's back to work. We stop between 4 and 5. Fix dinner, eat. TV or read and then bed.
Last Wednesday I learned weed wacking. 7 hours later we have made a dent in the trimming. My arms ache. 800mg motrin later my arms ache, 500 mg tylenol my arms still ache, where are the narcotics when you need them. It felt like I was developing Popeye arms. I went to bed at 8. That day I think it was exhaustion. Larry works hard every day, so maybe it is exhaustion most days. But the constant gray days don't help either.
The weather forecast is for more rain through Wednesday, and a cooler than usual June and July. We hope they are wrong. The weather people are usually wrong aren't they?

Isn't a good deep sleep wonderful!?! You are working hard and those blessings are going to start pouring in like the rain! I'm so proud of you!
Love, Jen
True, true...we want the WHOLE experience. :) Have you purchased any rain boots yet?
Sounds like you will be ready to participate with some American Gladiators when you get home. You will need to set up an arm wrestling match and see how many of us you can whip.
May you can hold out hope for an Indian Summer since you're getting a crappy June and July.
I'm so jealous that Kelly and Steve are going to be up there visiting soon. Wish it were me.
Take care!
